An Illegitimate Government July 25th, 2014

While flipping through news channels last week I came across a group of liberals who were outraged because the City of Detroit is shutting the water off when people fail to pay their water bill. They aren’t offering to pay for any of it, they don’t have to. They have a government that will make us pay for it.

The liberals are in charge and they have no problem making us pay for anything they want and no, we don’t have a say in the matter. They have figured out that they can use federal agencies with practically unlimited budgets to rule over us. Agencies like the EPA, IRS, NSA, and HHS that have assumed the power to make and enforce “laws” that were never passed by Congress.

Last year the EPA, while spending over 8 billion dollars of our money, made and enforced rules and regulations that cost us 2 trillion dollars. This year they have begun the process of outlawing the country’s most abundant and least expensive fuel for generating electricity so that politically connected companies can help themselves to public subsidies and use regulations to handicap competitors.

Nothing the EPA does is for the purpose of helping the environment or society. It is acting in ways that undermine the concept of private property, without which a free market capitalist economy can’t exist. But that is the point. The system they are creating is not free market.

The IRS made and enforced their own laws against citizens who may have been working to cut their budget. There is evidence that they had help from the White House and some Democratic members of Congress, but they weren’t just furthering an agenda, they were protecting their own illegitimate political power.

Obama has taken advantage of the situation to further his agenda and to satisfy the people who financed his election campaign. The IRS and EPA are doing his bidding, but they are not under his control and they will still be in power whoever we elect in the next election.

Congress theoretically has the power to cut their budgets. Something they haven’t demonstrated lately. If they did, the IRS and the EPA would make things very uncomfortable for us peasants. It would be like the Parks Service restricting access to our roads during the fake shutdown, except that these agencies are capable of a lot more than putting up a few roadblocks.

The Fair Tax is ready and waiting to replace the IRS, it just needs a fair hearing, and the 50 States already have environmental agencies in place that are perfectly capable of protecting the environment. The people don’t need the IRS or EPA. The bureaucrats, crooks and crony capitalists who are running our government do.

Join Dale for a daily prayer

Join Dale for a daily prayer at the beginning of Down on the Corner each weekday morning at 7:06.  We are proud to open our local programming with a prayer, as we recall 2 Chronicles 7:14, "if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land."

Special thanks to Baxter County Right to Life for providing the airtime each day for the morning prayer.
