Government, An Entitlement Program For Politicians October 24th, 2014

We learned last week that the federal government paid 775 million dollars to 57,000 government employees who are not working, and we weren't even surprised. It is just one more in a long line of examples of a government that does not have to answer to the people who pay for it.

It is the nature of government to grow. It is the nature of those in power to take more. That is why our system was designed with so many checks and balances, all of which are being completely ignored. The ruling class feels entitled to any of our property they care to confiscate, they have the power to enforce it.

In a few days we will take part in an election that will likely give control of both legislative branches of government, and thus all spending and taxing authority to Republicans. The exercise of that authority is the mechanism by which we the people are supposed to control our government. To cede that authority, like the House of Representatives has for two years, leaves us subjects of an authoritarian ruling class over which we have no recourse.

Four of our last eight Presidents rank among the worst in our history, but not one of their programs has been reversed. Nixon's OSHA, MSHA, NIOSH and the EPA, Jimmy Carter's Departments of Education and Energy, Bush's Homeland Security and Obama's health care system should all be on the chopping block when the 114th Congress submits their first budget.

Of course the President will veto any budget that takes a dollar from the ruling class. He will defend federal jobs and private jobs who work for federal contractors, he has already instituted a higher minimum wage for those workers, and he will advocate a higher minimum wage for all workers. It will be Obama, champion of the poor against the evil Republicans and the rich.

The only way to win that battle is with the truth, something neither party has tried in a long time. We need a budget we can afford, and a transparent, flat tax system. The more you spend the more you pay. No special treatment for anybody and no reason to hire an accountant just to pay your taxes. If they can't override Obama's veto, let him shut the government down until the 2016 elections.

If you are worried about the effect on our economy of eliminating so many federal jobs, sending the money back to the taxpayer in the form of tax reform that eliminates payroll and other hidden taxes will more than make up for the loss of federal jobs. Returning power to the people is the only thing that can save our country.

Join Dale for a daily prayer

pray4america.png

Join Dale for a daily prayer at the beginning of Down on the Corner each weekday morning at 7:06.  We are proud to open our local programming with a prayer, as we recall 2 Chronicles 7:14, "if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land."

Special thanks to Gilbert Realty for providing the airtime each day for the morning prayer.
