Operation Christmas Child, a Ministry of Franklin Graham's Samaritan's Purse will be having a countdown rally on Saturday, September 11th from 3-5pm. This area includes rally sites in Boone, Marion, Baxter, Fulton, Izard, Sharp, Stone, and Searcy Counties. Operation Christmas Child promotes filling shoe boxes with school supplies, toiletries, toys and candy for needy children around the world. The rally will feature special reports from volunteers who have worked in processing centers, relay sites and in distributions in other countries. There will be special music, videos and a presentation to show the work of Operation Christmas Child. Free self-guided driving tour of the private working studios of area artists and crafts artisans located within 30 miles Mountain View. Visitors are given a tour program which contains maps and directions to each of the studios along with information about each of the participating artists. There will be 30 studios on the tour this year including 7 new studios. The tour starts just 20 miles from Mountain Home in Pineville and Calico Rock. The Greater Twin Lakes Area Lion's Clubs will hold their 18th Annual Benefit Golf Tournament on Saturday, September 18th and Sunday, September 19th at the Twin Lakes Golf Course in Mountain Home. The tournament will be a 36 hole, 2 day - 2 person scramble. The starting time is 8:30am on Saturday and 1:30pm on Sunday. Entry fee is $70 per golfer. Three Rivers Biker Church will have their 1st Annual Benefit Ride for the Arkansas Children's Home. The first ride begins at the Salem Park at 9:30am, the second ride begins at Fred's Dollar Store in Yellville at 9:30am. Both end in Gamaliel at the Three Rivers Biker Church. Non-riders can meet at Three Rivers Biker Church at 10:30am. The church is located on Highway 101, 3 miles north of the 101 bridge. Free lunch will be served.
